Santa’s excited to visit with you all at the Carousel again and he’s asked we do things a little differently this year due to Covid-19, mindful of everyone’s health & safety, especially all the children he will be visiting here and around the world.

 

Salem’s Riverfront Carousel has carefully planned operations and offerings in our re-design of the 2020 holiday season - with the mission to make each visit a safe and a magical experience for our guests. To help us in these efforts, all visits will be by online reservation only.

 

We have had to sadly cancel some of our traditional event plans this year, but we are hopeful we can bring back in 2021 Breakfast with Santa, In the Kitchen with Mrs. Claus, Pajama Party with Santa & Friends, and the Carousel Express Train Arrival.

We here, the staff and volunteers, look forward to joining your family in celebrating and capturing the moments of this annual tradition. We wish you all a very happy holiday season and appreciate your continued support!

 

Visits & Photos with Santa

Santa feels its best that he sit behind a plexiglass window in his staged Carousel workshop. Guests can sit near him on a bench just in front of the glass window to visit, share their wishes and about how good they’ve been, and for photo opportunities. (We will post photos of this set-up in November.) No groups larger than 6 persons are allowed for each reservation.

Upon booking your private Zoom call with Santa, a Carousel staff member will follow up with you to complete a survey to provide details about your kid(s) to create a truly personalized experience. Santa is ready to ask questions, chat with your kid on what good deeds they have done this year, and enjoy many laughs. This will be a moment to remember and cherish.

How do we visit Santa at the Carousel?


Santa will be at the Carousel for visits and photos. This year, due to Covid-19 and needing to take appropriate health and safety measures, we will only be offering these visits through pre-booked reservations online ONLY. We will not be able to accommodate any drop-in visits this year.




Will the Carousel Express Train be happening this year?


Unfortunately we will not be having Santa arrive by train this year due to Covid-19 concerns and the crowds that this event has generated in the past. We hope to bring this tradition back next year, 2021.




How much does it cost to visit Santa at the Carousel?


Visits are always FREE! If you'd like to take your own photos, the cost is $5 per device for up to 5 shots. For a Carousel Keepsake Photo by professional photographer Karl Nightingale, the fee is $15 (one copy only) - also includes up to 5 shots with your own device. Additional copies may be purchased.




When will Santa be at the Carousel?

Can I get a personal message from Santa?


Yes! Do I have to wear a mask to see Santa?


Yes! As with our entire facility and following all safety procedures and mandates, masks or appropriate face coverings/shields are required for all guests 5yr & older while on the Carousel premises. If you are getting a photo taken during your visit with Santa, you may temporarily remove your mask for the brief photo opportunity, however your mask needs to be put back on immediately before visiting with Santa or departing from the photo booth.




What's the set up this year with Santa?


Santa will be sitting on a chair in his staged workshop behind a plexi-glass window. Guests will stand or sit in front of the window to visit with Santa and to take photos.




I need to cancel my visit/photos with Santa. How do I do that?


For Visits/Photos with Santa only: Refunds or cancellations may be made up to 1 hour prior to your scheduled appointment. Simply request a cancellation or refund via the "Manage and View Your Order" at the bottom of your confirmation email from EventBrite that you received at the time of making your reservation. Free Visits will give you the option to "cancel order". Pre-paid photo package reservations on EventBrite will give you the option to "request refund". If you are eligible for a refund, your refund will be approved and processed. if you are not eligible, your request will be rejected. If you purchased a pre-paid photo package via our Carousel Online Shop, please submit your cancelation request for EventBrite reservation, but also send salemcarousel@gmail.com an email further requesting a refund for the online shop purchase. If you are eligible for a refund, your request will be processed. If there are available dates/times, appointments can be rescheduled.




Will the kids be able to sit on Santa's lap this year, or sit next to him?


Unfortunately, due to Covid-19 prevention measures, Santa is needing to keep his distance this year to keep himself and all guests safe. So, Santa will be sitting behind a plexi-glass window as part of his Carousel Workshop staging area. Guests will sit or stand in front of the window to visit and take photos.




Can I drop in at any time to see if Santa is available to visit with us?


Unfortunately no. We have made the decision this year to take online reservations in advance only - this will help us ensure that all proper protocols and procedures are followed. Keep checking our booking link to see if any dates/times become available. Guests can cancel up to 1 hour prior to their appointment, so once may become available at any time!




Are the other traditional holiday events at the Carousel happening this year?

I need to cancel my Zoom with Santa. How do I do that & do I get a refund?


All reservations and cancellations must be made by Decmeber 19th. If you need to cancel after the 19th, a refund will not be issued. If you are eligible for a refund, please submit a request by clicking on "Manage and View Your Order" at the bottom of the email received from EventBrite at the time of when you booked your session. There you will be prompted to log in and can then access your ticket. Click on the event ticket, then select "Request Refund". Follow the prompts and submit.




I need to cancel my Video Message from Santa. How do I do that & do I get a refund?

What is all the fine print details I need to know before booking my Visit/Photo with Santa?


WHAT TO EXPECT By making a reservation, you are agreeing to all terms below: COVID SAFETY PROCEDURES & CAROUSEL SANTA VISIT PROCEDURES If you or anyone in your party is feeling unwell or exhibiting any symptoms of Covid-19, or has tested positive or been exposed to Covid-19 in the past 14 days, or you are actively waiting for the results of a Covid test, you will need to stay home and cancel your appointment. COVID19 PRESCREENING: Upon arrival, guests will be asked to complete a health and safety survey before they can enter the room to meet with Santa, in which the Carousel will hold these documents in our records for up to 60 days in the case that contact tracing is necessary. Information obtained will be your name, contact information, date of visit, number of people in your party, and health pre-screening questions for you and your party members. MASK REQUIREMENT: Masks or appropriate face coverings/shields are required, for all persons ages 5yr & up, to wear while on the Carousel premises and all social distancing protocols and policies must be followed. Guests may temporarily remove their masks only while photos are being taken but must be put back on immediately following and during the rest of their visit. WHERE TO CHECK IN: Santa Visitors will be required to line up outside the Workshop area (ONE ENTRANCE located OUTSIDE on the north patio of our building) and maintain social distance between other families/groups. Staff/Volunteers will be on-hand to assist, helping to discern the staging of people according to their reservation times and placeholders in line. SANTA'S WORKSHOP SETUP: Santa needs to keep his social distance as well this year in order to better protect all the children around the world and will be sitting behind a plexiglass window in his staged Carousel workshop. Guests can sit near him on a bench just in front of the glass window to visit, share their wishes and about how good they’ve been, and for photo opportunities. GROUP SIZES: No groups of over 6 persons are allowed during the appointment. Guests must book separate sessions splitting up their group to 6 persons or less if necessary. CLEANING: Reservation time slots include buffer for our Carousel Staff to clean and disinfect surfaces inside the Workshop in between each session. For all details of our current safety procedures, please visit www.salemcarousel.org REFUNDS & CANCELLATIONS Guests are required to show up on time in order to hold their reservation. Please consider carefully allowing for time to park, taking your place in line and going through the pre-screening survey. We suggest you plan on arriving at least 15 minutes prior to your scheduled time slot. LATE ARRIVALS will forfeit their reservation and will not be eligible for a refund on pre-paid packages. NO EXCEPTIONS. Refunds or cancellations may be made up to 1 hour prior to your scheduled appointment. Simply request a cancellation or refund via the "Manage and View Your Order" at the bottom of your confirmation email from EventBrite at the time of making your reservation. Free Visits will give you the option to "cancel order". Pre-paid reservations on EventBrite will give you the option to "request refund". If there are available dates/times, appointments can be rescheduled. Pre-paid packages on the Carousel Shop: Any fees paid for their pre-paid photo package(s) on our website may be applied for their rescheduled appointment.
