We are excited to reopen the Carousel! Here are the updated procedures and expectations for our guests. The health and safety of our visitors, staff and volunteers is important to us. Please read the below to prepare for your visit to the Carousel.
We understand that there are those who will not be able to enjoy the Carousel experience during this time due to these uncertain times. We look forward to the day when we can safely welcome you back in the future when Covid-19 safety restrictions are lifted.

Masks, face shields or face coverings are currently required for all indoor public spaces statewide by the orders of Oregon state. In addition, face coverings are required in outdoor public spaces when physical distancing is not possible.

TEMPORARY HOURS OF OPERATION

GENERAL COVID PROCEDURES
PLEASE NOTE: All hours and procedures are subject to change at
any time to keep up with the ever-evolving state and local policies.
*If you exhibit signs or symptoms of illness or if you have been exposed to Covid-19 in the last 14 days, please stay home.
*Our restrooms are for patrons only during this time
*Please follow all one-way entrances and exits as marked
*Enter at the Carousel Gift Shop to purchase ride tokens or to shop.
*Wearing a mask is required with the exception of children under the age of 5yr, and those with disabilities or underlying health conditions that prevent them from wearing a mask.
*If a person has a disability and/or a medical condition that prevents them from safely wearing a mash, please let us know. The following accommodations are available:
- The Carousel will provide the visitor temporary use of a sanitized face shield to be worn while inside our facility. It can be returned upon the end of your stay with us.
- A safe viewing area of the ride has been set up, on the outside perimeter of the building on the west patio, for those
who cannot wear a face covering or shield of any kind.
*We will be limiting the number of people in our Gift Shop to 10 persons (includes staff/volunteers) to allow for proper physical distancing.
*We will be limiting the number of people in the Carousel Room to 40 persons (includes staff/volunteers), and limiting only 24 people onto the Carousel per ride.
*Please wash or sanitize your hands when you arrive to the Carousel and before/after you ride.
*Please always keep at least 6ft apart from other groups/visitors
*Adults, please keep your children with you at all times
*If you come as a group or large party, please note that all restrictions for our capacity apply. Therefore, your group may be split up from entering the building all at the same time or on the ride at the same time.
*We are not accepting event bookings at this time until further notice
ON THE CAROUSEL
*Only 24 people on the Carousel per ride
*We will be cleaning surfaces between each ride, so we ask in advance for your patience.
*The middle row of horses will be blocked off in order to maintain proper 6ft distance between riders
*Groups, please stay together on the Carousel
*Parents/Guardians, if needed, please assist your child with their seatbelt.
*You MUST EXIT the building after your ride through the one-way exit - even if you want to ride multiple times. Simply just re-join the line at the back patio of the Carousel building for re-entry.
*Serendipity Salmon Brass Ring is not in operation during this time

SCHOOL GROUPS & FIELD TRIPS
We are offering discount ride programs for school groups as well as tours of the Carousel. For more information, visit the Field Trips page. Please note that all procedures still apply for Covid19 safety measures, therefore, there may be some limitations regarding your visit.
People with disabilities are welcome to ride the carousel at no cost. A Carousel Cares Complimentary Pass can be picked up at the Gift Shop.
MILITARY & PUBLIC SERVICE
Active or retired military, public service or emergency response personnel receives 5 free rides upon visit on any of these national holidays (Memorial Day, Remembrance Day and Veterans Day) + Receive 10% off merchandise in our Gift Gallery year-round!

All guests are asked to acknowledge all rules posted. If you have any questions or need any additional accommodations,
please ask one of our friendly staff or volunteers on duty to assist you.
VISITING THE CAROUSEL
A PLACE OF SAFETY & INCLUSION
All are welcomed to the Carousel. Please treat others including our facility, staff and volunteers with respect. We have the right to dismiss individuals from the premises or refuse service to anyone displaying inappropriate, harmful, disruptive, or suspicious behavior.
Salem's Riverfront Carousel reserves the right to use any photography/video taken on the premises, without the expressed written permission of those included within the photography/video. Visitors and activities may be included in future media, social media, or marketing materials. With admission into the Museum, you consent to the recording of photographs and/or video of yourself, your dependents, and accompanying group. You grant the Carousel all rights to use these images for educational, promotional, advertising, and other purposes which advance the overall mission of the Carousel to "bring education and artistry together". All rights to the photographs and video belong to the Carousel. We never use identifying information with a child’s image. Please notify the Gift Gallery if you do not consent to this policy. Security cameras are stationed throughout the Carousel building's interior and exterior, for the purpose of visitor safety and the protection of Carousel property.
Persons who are pregnant or have physical disabilities should evaluate this ride for potential risks before entering. Salem's Riverfront Carousel is not liable for consequences that may occur from riding the carousel.
Clothing and footwear are required to ride the carousel.
Children under 42" tall must be accompanied by an adult (18 years or older).
Balloons, drinks or food items are not allowed on the carousel at any time.
Persons who are visibly ill or under the influence of drugs or alcohol are not permitted to ride. The operator has the right to refuse entrance to the carousel.
Walking on the ride platform while the ride is in motion is prohibited.
